Bill of materials export and importmodule
All bill of materials (link between an object and a part) can be exported and imported.
All bills of materials (BOMs) can be exported to Excel, where they can be edited or new ones added, and then re-imported into ControlOffice. The export generates an Excel file that allows you to link existing objects and parts together to create BOMs. By specifying the unique object code, part code, the quantity of the part used in the object, and optionally a description of the link, BOMs can be successfully imported.
The basic rules for importing are as follows:
-
Do not modify the layout of the Excel file. Do not change column headers, remove columns, or rename/delete tabs. The structure of the Excel file must remain exactly as it was exported.
-
Mandatory fields in ControlOffice are also required in the Excel file to ensure correct data submission. For example, uploading a new BOM line without a valid part or object code will result in an error. Mandatory fields are marked with a red fill in the Excel.
Start by manually creating a few BOMs in ControlOffice. Then export them to Excel so you’ll have example rows in the file to work with.
The import is processed as a background task, meaning you can continue working while the data is being imported. Depending on the volume of data, this may take some time. If desired, a notification email can be sent when the import starts and when it finishes. If any errors occur during the import, they will be listed in the email.
