Objects
All objects can be maintained here. Create a new one, edit an existing one, or delete an object that is no longer is use.
Objects represent everything on which you want to record something, for example:

There is almost always an object needed or useful for recording, for example, when creating a report, work order, hour booking, or cost booking.
An object must always belong to a group. An object group is a collection of objects that are similar or belong to the same category. For example, forklifts, conveyor belts, filling machines, and roller doors. The size of an object group depends on the setup. For example, you can create one group for all rolling stock (forklifts, reach trucks, scissor lifts, etc.) or have a separate group for each item. What is the best practice depends on the company and its specific requirements.
An object group has 4 main functions within ControlOffice:

| KPI/Statistics | Obtain insights for each object group, such as downtime within the group, costs for all objects in the group, etc. |
| Fields | Define fields/characteristics per object group. For example, you may need to see different fields for a forklift than for a conveyor belt. |
| Checklists | A checklist can be linked to each object group. This checklist will automatically be applied to every new object added to the group, ensuring preventive maintenance is always set up. |
| Symptoms | Symptoms can be recorded per object group. These symptoms can be selected when creating a report or work order. |
An object can be created in 3 ways:

| Import | Objects can be created and edited using the export and import functions. |
An object has several mandatory fields:

| Objectgroup | Select the object group. |
| Code | Create a unique code. |
| Description | Enter the name of the object. |
| Status | The status of the object. |
| Cluster | The location of the object. |
In addition to these fields, additional information can be recorded per object group, such as brand, model/type, serial number, supplier, year of manufacture, maintenance company, other information, etc.
An object also has tabs to record additional information:

| Detail | Basic data of the object, such as the code and description. |
| Bill of Materials | The parts the object is made of, also known as the BOM (Bill of Materials). |
| Subobjects | The subobjects of the object. |
| History | The history of the object, divided into work orders, reports, hour bookings, part take outs, and costs. There is also an option to show the "Underlying history". This means that ControlOffice will look in the tree structure if there are any objects located in this object, and if so, it will also show their history. |
| Contracts | The contracts applicable to the object. |
| Meters | The meters of the object. |
| Attachments | The attachments related to the object. |
Tips for organizing and setting up objects effectively:

Plan and discuss the object structure with multiple people.

Ensure it's logically set up so that people from different functions can use it.

Use 2 or 3 levels for objects (can be set up via the tree structure):

Level 1: The department (e.g., production department).

Level 2: The line/function (e.g., production line 1).

Level 3: The installation (e.g., the conveyor belt in production line 1).

Use an automatically incrementing number for the object code, possibly with separate numbering for each object group (e.g., "PR001" for printers, "TB001" for conveyor belts).

Give each object a name that makes sense to everyone, and maintain consistent naming conventions (e.g., don’t name one forklift "Heftruck" and another "Forklift").

Print a label with a QR code for each object. The label/sticker can be automatically generated via ControlOffice.

Attach an image for each object for easy identification.

Add all necessary documentation to keep all information in one place (e.g., manuals, invoices, etc.).

Limit the number of people responsible for maintaining the object structure to those who understand the rationale behind the setup, ensuring the structure is well-maintained.
